you might have received thismost frequently given advice which saysdream big but those who give us thisadvicenever tell us how to i remember i was 12years oldmy mother taught me two really reallyimportant things so i thought that imust share those two things with youbecause these really helped methroughout my journeythe first thing was how to dream bigand secondly the power of manifestationi was born in rahim yarkhan a small cityin southern punjab pakistanas i mentioned earlier i was 12 yearsoldand this incident happened during mysummer break when all my friends hadgonefor summer vacations and ididn't go couldn't gothat made me really sad and throughout summer breaki went quiet i remember one nighti was sitting in my garden outsidelooking at the starsquietly my motherknew something was off she knew i wassadso she came outside and she sat rightnext to meand asked me what is itwhat is bothering you and i being a 12year oldstarted cribbing and complaining abouteverythingi told her that i wish i could go for avacation like my friendsor maybe i'm not lucky enough as myfriendsi wish i was born in a bigger bettercityand my complaints kept going on and onmy mother sat next to me quietlypatientlyand she listened to all that i had tosayshe didn't say a word and after a fewminutes
she said look what's up there do you see
an airplane goingi looked at this guy and i said yes shesmiled and she saidthat's moniva's airplane going somewherei looked at my mother and i saidthis is not funny you don't have to tryto make me laugh becausei'm really sad she smiled againand she repeated the same words againshe said look that's moniva's flightgoing somewherei told her that i cannot even go in atrain let alone going somewherein an airplane stop this is not funnyshe smiled again and repeated what shesaidlook that's moniva's flight goingsomewhereinstead of making me happy i startedcrying more and isaidmama you will never understand what i'mgoing throughso i went in myroom and i cried somemorewell years and years went by and that12 year old became mei was invited by you and women to sharemy storyglobally at un women headquarters in newyorkso when i was leaving for u.s for thevery first time in my lifewhen i was leaving for the airport iremember i gave a big hug to my motherand when i was leaving she held my hand
tight and she said so
maniva's flight has finally arrived
that moment was one of the most defining
moments of my life
because in that moment i realized
that when i said that mama you will
never understand what i'm going through
my mother exactly knew what i was going
through
how in such a subtle and beautiful way
she was teaching me the power of
manifestation
how in such a beautiful way she made merealize that even a girl in a small town
